Metrology is the science of measurement.

It is impossible to do science, including forensic science, without measurement.

All measurement, in Canada and in most free and democratic societies around the world, for scientific purposes and legal purposes, is traceable to the International System of Units defined by the General Conference of Weights and Measures (CGPM) and defined by international vocabularies (VIM and VIML) and international organizations (CGPM, BIPM, OIML, ISO) that produce international standards and recomendations (ISO, OIML) . Reference the Weights and Measures Act, the Metre Convention, and in our history, Magna Carta.
